“ShanShui” Desk Collection

This project is carried out with the Dark Corner Product Studio towards their brand Areaware. The given brief is to design a small collection of desk and stationery items for the new home-based working era. My inspiration is from Chinese ink paintings and Chinese calligraphy. I wanted to create a modern version of the traditional “Four Treasures of the Study” (brushes, ink sticks, paper and ink stones) from ancient China. The series of items consist of a pen holder, a table lamp and a glass or phone holder, each matching an element from typical Chinese ink paintings. In this way, the working surface becomes a piece of painting that’s aesthetically pleasing.
